About Us

Our Mission
To support and promote animal welfare and responsible pet ownership.

The Humane Society of Tuscola County is a private, non-profit organization founded in April 1996.  We promote the well being, humane treatment, and prevention of cruelty to animals. We recognize the value of the human/animal bond. Assistance to control pet over-population is provided through public education and the spay/neuter certificate program.  We educate pet owners and others concerning the proper care, handling and training of pets.

This Humane Society is a conservative organization, which does not take militant activists stands on animal welfare issues.

The Humane Society of Tuscola County does not have the volunteers, authority or vehicles to pick up animals or the authority to investigate cruelty complaints.

Income is generated through memberships, donations, memorials, bequests, grants, and regular fund raising events.  All funds received are used to support the local programs.  No tax funds from the County or State government are received.  The HSTC has no affiliation with the Humane Society of the United States or the Michigan Humane Society, thus no funds are received from any larger Humane Societies, unless it is through specific grants.

Our Goals
